Lily ZhangBraff is an Impressionistic oil painter with an aptitude for landscapes, portraiture and plein air. She studied with Chinese Master Chor Choi Foo, also took classes at the Art Students League in N.Y.C. In 2010 , she attended a classical painting technique program at Grand Central Academy of Art in N.Y. C. She took workshops with the contemporary master painters Jove Wang and Scott Christensen. Lily’s art has been influenced by Russian- American painter, Nicolai Fechin. And her artwork features an expressive use of color and evocative lively brushstrokes.
Lily has been juried into numerous regional , national and international exhibitions, such as the American Impressionist Society(AIS), Oil Painters of America, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society(NOAPS), and Salmagundi Club. Her paintings have received many awards , for example First prize at 2022 NOAPS associate member online show,First prize of figure at October PleinAir Salon Art Competition in 2023, A Merit Award at Spring 2024 Online International Exhibition by NOAPS ; First prize at Southport Plein Air 2023 event, a Merit prize from North Carolina Plein Air Festival in New Bern 2024; Second prize at 2024 Southwest Art-AIS All Member Paint-out in Rockport, MA; Third prize at the 116th Annual Thumb Box Exhibition at Salmagundi Club, NYC, 2024.
